Our Speaker - Dick Collins

Dick Collins is a highly respected wildlife photographer from Western New York who has been photographing birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and just about everything in between for over 50 years. He has traveled extensively in the US and abroad making over 33 trips to the neo tropics spending well over a year’s time in the field in Central and South America alone. In total, Dick has traveled to or through 58 countries and on 6 continents photographing over 2000 animal species with over 1200 of them birds. He even once spent 6 hours photographing a cheetah!

Dick was a member of the Science Museum Camera Club and still credits his time with camera clubs for “most of what he learned.” He has participated in many photography shows and his images have been highly regarded and won numerous digital and prints competitions even first places in PSA competitions.

Today, Dick enjoys photographing in many places including his own private birding blind in his back yard in Elma, NY and he also enjoys giving lessons to beginning bird photographers. He says, “I shoot what I like and I’m always looking for something new as in a species I’ve never photographed before.”
