David (bearwoodsphotography.com) has been a photographer since 1972 when his father presented him with his first camera, but his career in photography started in 1992. David learned his craft originally as a painter and from his father who shares his love of nature and photography. Early in his career he traveled with, learned from, and taught beside some of the masters of nature photography including John Shaw, Art Wolfe, Galen Rowell, Bryan Peterson, Pat O’Hara, and Rod Planck. David has been teaching photography since 1994 in the classroom and leading workshops around the United States. David presents and leads workshops at many of the country’s top photographic conferences such as the Photographic Society of America Annual Conference, as well as many camera clubs across the United States.
David’s clients include, but are not limited to, Coca Cola, PNC Bank, Tamron, Sirui, the Mountain Conservation Trust of Georgia, Lensbaby, The Nature Conservancy, Scholastic Books, and Gibbs Gardens. His photographs and articles have appeared in publications such as Nature Photographer, Audubon Magazine, Blue Ridge Country, Birder’s World, Outdoor Photographer, Backpacker Magazine, and many local publications. His work has appeared in several feature books, calendars, as well as in instructional guides. David is a Tamron Image Master, Kase Filter Ambassador, and an f-stop Gear Pathfinder. David is an avid birder and has created a certified Wildlife Sanctuary in his backyard that allows him to create many bird images.

Location
The Fall Seminar will be held at Stamford Center Volunteer Fireman’s Association Hall, 2275 Dorchester Road, Niagara Falls, ON, Canada, Ontario. 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Tickets
The ticket price for seminar on November 2 is $60 CDN and includes lunch and refreshments. Ticket prices for the macro workshop on November 3 are $20. There will be a morning and afternoon session for the workshop and you may select 1 to attend. There are only a limited number of tickets (16) for each workshop.

Backyard Bird Photography
David will share his tips for capturing backyard birds. David went through the process of having his yard certified by the Audubon Society as a Wildlife Sanctuary. Within that sanctuary David has created a simple bird studio that allows him to capture many varieties of birds all from the comfort of his back porch. Whether you have acres to work with or a small porch these tips will help you maximize your opportunities to capture great images of our feathered friends.
Landscape Photography
Join Professional Nature Photographer David Akoubian as he discusses and shares the world of landscape photography. David was classically trained as an illustrator and has carried over some of the same principles he used with a paint brush to his camera and his photography. David will discuss the rules of photography, and how he breaks them often. David will also discuss the gear he uses and why, such as wide-angle lenses vs telephoto lenses and the effects he achieves with them. David will of course share some of his favorite images to help inspire your photography endeavors.
Macro Photography
In this program, David will he share his exploration of the world of macro photography. He has always felt that macro photography is probably not only one of the hardest genres of photography, but the most rewarding and beneficial. David feels that by mastering techniques used in macro photography that it helps to improve all other styles as well. With today’s modern lenses, it isn’t required to have a dedicated macro lens so don’t be intimidated if you don’t own one. He will talk about using what you have in your bag to capture beautiful and sharp images. David will also discuss simple techniques that will improve your macro photography.
Nature Photography
David shares stories, tips, and techniques he has learned in his 30 years as a professional photographer. David has always loved spending time in nature and is able to combine his passion for photography as well. David will discuss how anyone can make the most of their time in nature capturing beautiful images of the world around us. David will give an overview of the many different types of nature photography such as close-up/macro, scenic/landscape, travel, and wildlife photography. David believes your time in nature photographing not only allows you to capture beautiful images, but to learn about the world around you as well. Learn about gear and settings for maximum enjoyment of nature photography as well.
